Control Tower Visualization

The map shows the simulation of the fleet movement of 300 trucks for a logistics company on the roads of the Netherlands . It also shows the estimated time of arrival (ETA) for each of trucks to its destination. This gives a comprehensive overview of the fleet.

The location data is a sample of the actual movement of the vechicles on the Dutch Highways.

Optimizing operational strategies using simulation

Simulation is the process of designing a model of a real system and conducting experiments with this model for evaluating various strategies for the operation of the system.

Calls coming to a call-center, customers arriving at a bank, products going through a supply chain, or packets traversing a network are common examples of such systems. The discrete nature of these systems in terms of events allow us to simulate using Discrete Event Simulation (DES).

What you see here are two scenarios whereby a call center is simulated where incoming calls are in every 1.25 minutes and average call time of 10 minutes with a certain variation. Assuming that the caller will jump off if they have to wait for more than 15 minutes. In the first graph, you see the situaion with 7 operator and in the second graph, you see the situation with 8 operators. We see that the wating time drops from an average of 9 minutes to an average of 3 minutes.
